I have been a K-8 principal, a middle school Language Arts teacher, a math tutor, a TESOL teacher in Europe, a group home supervisor in Los Angeles, a summer camp supervisor, and a varsity baseball coach.
I have experience working with learners of all ages and backgrounds and would like nothing more than to use my experience to help students move on to higher education and fulfill their potential.
As a principal, I wore many hats. I collaborated with teachers to improve lesson planning. I provided guidance and support to our students. I personally handled or facilitated all parent meetings to discuss the difficulties and progress of a student. I continued to conduct after school tutoring while I was principal.
I left Los Angeles for the opportunity to teach in Europe. I became an English teacher for business people in classes and small group settings. It was very satisfying to work with adult learners who were so motivated to both grow and become more viable.
One of the most rewarding aspects of being a teacher is helping young people through their frustrations and difficulties. Watching students grow into confident adults translates to any level of education. There is nothing more rewarding than helping a student solve a problem, excel, and enjoy their academic experience.
