Greetings! I have been teaching college composition and literature for 13 years, and previously taught high school English, from regular classes to gifted classes, for 6 years. I have also been teaching English writing to students of Chinese descent at a local Chinese school once a week for the past year and a half. I am certified to teach English in Pennsylvania and Florida.

I love to teach, but I enjoy the opportunity to tutor students even more! It is a wonderful opportunity to work one-on-one with an individual, learning how to get the best each student has to offer. Every student has different strengths and weaknesses, and learns in their own unique way. Tutoring enables me to address each student's unique needs.

Study Skills

I have been a high school English teacher and a professor of English at the community College level since 1999. One of the most important skills I teach to freshman composition students is how to be an effective college student. This involves how to actively read a text, how to manage one's time, how to organize ideas, etc. I feel I am highly qualified to instruct middle school, high school, and college students in how to study effectively - and efficiently!

College Counseling

I have worked with high school students for 6 years, as an English teacher, helping them with college choices, and application essays. I am currently helping a young woman who is applying to Bryn Mawr, Wellesley, Connecticut College, and other highly academic colleges. Also, as a college composition professor at DCCC, I advise students with transfer options and with college essay-writing help.
