Hello! I am a special education teacher in a local school district. I currently teach Life Skills K-3. I have a great deal of experience working with children with Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, and Specific Learning Disabilities. I am certified to teach children between the ages of 3-21 years.

I also have a great deal of experience in developing and implementing IEPs for students with special needs. If I tutor your child, I will create individualized lessons to meet the individual needs of your child. I look forward to hearing from you and working with you and your family.

I hold FBI and PA Act 33 and 34 Clearances.

Reading

I have taught reading using a variety of different curriculums and grade levels.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have taught elementary students (K-6) in an inclusive setting. A majority of these students I worked with were diagnosed with learning disabilities. However, I have taught these students using the general education curriculum in both Reading and Math. I am able to make accommodations and modifications to the curriculum as needed.

Phonics

Throughout my teaching experiences, I have taught Phonics to children with special needs, mostly in grades K-6. I like to incorporate "hands on" activities in my teaching lessons. I feel that students with special needs have a higher success rate when using a more "hands on" approach.

Study Skills

During my student teaching experience, I taught my students in my learning support classroom different study skills to prepare themselves for tests and state assessments. I also taught them tips and strategies to help them be successful on exams.

Special Needs

I currently have my Special Education certificate. I also teach Life Skills K-3 at a local school district. In the past nine years, I have worked with children with special needs in a variety of classrooms settings, including: Life Skills, Learning Support, and MDS classrooms.

ADD/ADHD

Throughout my experiences as a Therapeutic Staff Support (TSS), I have worked with several children with ADD/ADHD. I have learned to break down tasks and provide children with a short "movement" break between activities (jumping 10 times, taking short walk, sining a song, completing a puzzle, etc).

Aspergers

I have worked with students with Aspergers during my student teaching experiences. I have also previously worked as a Therapuetic Staff Support (TSS) for 5 years. During this time, I worked mostly with children with Aspergers and Autism.

Autism

I have a Masters degree in Early Intervention and I specialized in Autism. Over the past nine years, I have worked with a variety of children on different levels of the autism spectrum.
