Hello Everyone,

I am a developer with a dual Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Information Technology. I program in Java, Java Script, Visual Basic, Perl, Kornshell and Bash. I have been in programming competitions and developed Android applications. I graduated with manga cum laude honors with Top Computer Science student awards. Most importantly, I have been tutoring for over 8 years and understand what it takes to be an effective tutor. I understand that people learn differently, and I succeed in conveying essential programming concepts in an easy to understand format and in a way that is retainable for the student.

Computer Programming

I have been programming in several different languages for about 5 years. Those languages are Java, Perl, Visual Basic, KornShell, Bash, and Windows Command line. I understand essential computer programming concepts such as methods, procedures, expressions, operators, variables, classes and much more. I understand how to create programs or scripts, debug logical or build errors on any of the languages above.

Computer Science

I have a Bachelors degree in Computer Science and in Information Technology. I graduated with a 3.73 GPA. I have a strong understanding of Operating Systems (Windows, Unix and or Linux), various programming languages, networking capabilities, hardware, and implementing security.

Linux

I am proficient in working with and scripting with Red Hat, Fedora, Centoslive and Ubuntu OS. I am most effective in working through the terminal to install software. I have familiarity with all basic filesytem maneuvering commands, string manipulation commands such as grep or awk, text file commands such as vi, configuring process and service commands, networking commands and much more!

Microsoft Access

I have created Microsoft Access Databases and forms. My degree in Computer Science and Information technology includes Database management courses therefore I have a thorough understanding about how to create databases, queries, normalization, keys and table relationships. I also understand how to export and import data to other Microsoft Applications. Lastly, I have over 5 years of experience in tutoring in this subject.

Perl

I have more than 4 years of experience programming in Perl. My previous experience includes creating scripts to monitor cpu, memory, logfiles and other system functions in the Unix environment. I have a great familiarity with Perl modules, declaring variables, loops, executing commands in a shell from Perl and all other sorts of concepts! This is one of my favorite languages.

Visual Basic

I have worked with the object-oriented programming language Visual Basic and have a through understanding of variables, constants, data types, and expression concepts. I can teach students to create loops, multiple forms, menus, procedures, functions and arrays. I also understand how to debug and read through code that has already been written to find errors both build and logical.
