Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have an undergraduate degree in Mathematics with a secondary education certificate. I am a New Jersey certified teacher currently teaching with 10 years of experience. I have taught Pre-Algebra through AP Calculus. It is my goal to not only teach the mathematics involved with a particular subject, but to also develop critical thinking skills that can be applied outside of the classroom.

Algebra 2

I have an undergraduate degree in mathematics with a secondary education certificate. I am a New Jersey certified teacher currently teaching with 10 years of experience. I have taught algebra 2 for five years. I have also taught algebra 1 and pre-calculus, so I well aware of the prerequisite material for algebra 1 and the material required for pre-calculus.

Calculus

I have an undergraduate degree in Mathematics with a secondary education certificate. I am a New Jersey certified teacher currently teaching with 10 years of experience. I have been a teacher of Calculus for 7 years. I have taught both honors and AP Calculus. 22% of my students have received a 5, 33% a 4, and 33% a 3. The average for 3 and above is about 55% of students.

Precalculus

I have an undergraduate degree in Mathematics with a secondary education certificate. I am a New-Jersey-certified teacher currently teaching with 11 years of experience. I have taught prealgebra through AP Calculus including several years of precalculus. It is my goal to not only teach the mathematics involved with a particular subject, but to also develop critical thinking skills that can be applied outside of the classroom.

Trigonometry

I have an undergraduate degree in Mathematics with a secondary education certificate. I am a New Jersey certified teacher currently teaching with 10 years of experience. I have taught trigonometry for 6 years. I find it best to learn trigonometry by studying and understanding the mathematics and then applying trigonometry to real world context.

Since Dave walkes at 9 km/h and walked for 1/2 h he walked 4 1/2 km.     Dan then must've walked 8km - 4 1/2 km or 3 1/2 km in 1/2 hr.   Using the formula Distance = Rate * Time  where Dan's Distance is 3 1/2 km, and Dan's Time is 1/2hr, we can solve for...

when multiplying with like bases, 7 in this example, add the exponents.   So 7^(3x) * 7^(1) * 7^(x-1) = 7^(3x + 1 + x - 1) = 7^(4x)
