Hi, my name is Patricia but I prefer to be called Trish. I am a Millersville University graduate with a degree in Math Education. I have the most experience in teaching middle school children but I enjoy working with students of all ages. I want to tutor children because working one on one with a student that is struggling or just needs a little more attention has been what I've enjoyed most about teaching. I'm really easy going but strict when it comes to getting work done on time. I had many struggles in middle school and high school that help me understand where a student is coming from and helps me connect with them. I will do everything I can to help boost your child's confidence and especially their grades in math.
During my senior year at Millersville I taught in 4 schools. During my professional block courses I taught at Manheim Central High School. I taught 3 days worth of Geometry lessons to 10th and 11th graders. I also taught at Centerville Middle School in 7th grade for 4 days. I taught a mini unit and did several fun activities with the students. My last placement for my professional block was at Ephrata High School. I taught Precalculus to 11th and 12th graders. During my time at Ephrata I taught a full unit and gave them an assessment on the material. The students did really well. My cooperating teacher said it was there best so far that year.
My student teaching placement was at Smith Middle School which is in Solanco School District. I taught Math 7 and Math extensions. All of the 7th grade had two periods of math, Math 7, where they would have their daily lesson and Math extensions, where they would do a learning based activity and take all their assessments. I also helped tutor students during their study hall period at the end of the day and once a week after school.
