Graduate Student with Tutoring Experience

Hello, thanks for checking out my page. I have recently graduated with a degree in Political Science with a minor in American History. I have had two years of experience tutoring at the college level, particularly American Government and related topics. I am currently enrolled as a graduate student at the George Washington University working towards my Ph.D. in Political Science, specializing in American Politics, political theory (philosophy), and Quantitative methods.

I believe that there is not a single approach to tutoring that works; rather, every student has different needs and a different way of learning and comprehending the material. Thus, I like to take an individualized approach with each of the students I tutor. This approach allows me to first understand what they know, what they sort of know, and what they're unclear on. It also allows me to figure out how they learn best, and then to utilize this information to develop an individualized tutoring plan.

American History

As an American History minor I have an extensive, trained knowledge of American history and the different schools of thought about American history (including the debate between the consensus and conflict schools of thought). Additionally, my study of American government as part of my political science major has further prepared me to tutor American history.

Microsoft Excel

I worked as a computer technician and tutor for a local computer store during high school and off and on throughout college. I have significant experience in teaching Microsoft Office skills to beginners and understand that the biggest component to successful lessons in this subject is patience and an understanding of how the systems function. Additionally, I have had to utilize Microsoft Excel in numerous jobs I have held while in College.

General Computer

Government & Politics

I have a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in American History. In addition I have significant experience tutoring American Government classes for almost 2 years. My main area of knowledge is American politics, but I also have proficiency in modern political philosophy, Comparative politics, and international relational relations.

Music History

I have been an active musician since 3rd grade, and played in my college's wind symphony, where we learned about some of the history of the music we've played in addition to the technical aspects of the music. In addition I have taken both Jazz History and Music Appreciation in college which I received As in. I have also have a fascination with music history, and have studied the subject in depth on my own and in conjunction with my history studies

Social Studies

I have had a series of crucial classes that are part of a social studies curriculum. As a political science major I have had classes in American government/civics, international relations, international studies, economics, psychology, and history. I received an A in all of these classes and have integrated many aspects of each subject together in my studies.
