I have plenty experience working with students. In my past I have worked at day cares, as well as Philadelphia Job Corps. My most recent position was working with Universal Bluford Charter School as the Parent and Community Manager of the Family Student Resource Center (FSRC) working with students (Kindergarten to sixth grade) and as a liaison to the parents. As the Parent and Community Manager my responsibilities included managing two other employees, the Case Manager and the Community Outreach Manager.
In addition to managing two full-time employees, I was also responsible for coordinating, recruiting and managing parent and community volunteers through the Parent Partner Program and the Mastery Charter high School students. I created the Parent Partner Program as a way to get parents and community members who were not traditionally involved in their child’s education and those who were in transition in the workforce. The Parent Partner Program has 20-30 parents who volunteered on a weekly basis. My responsibilities also included recruiting, and organizing the Home and School Association and the School Advisory Council (SAC). The Parent Partner Program acted as a network and a pool of parents who were also leaders within the school and for their child’s education.
The Family Student Resource Center assists students and parents with issues around non-academic barriers. I ensured my team was very hands and involved building support, resources and relationships with teachers, school staff, service providers, and community leaders.
