As a progressive elementary school educator with over ten years of teaching, I take learning differences seriously. Recognizing that some students learn more easily though different modalities has a direct implication on how I create my lessons. I prepare content in a variety of ways that incorporates visual, kinesthetic and and auditory modes if instructional strategies. I appreciate that not all students understand one way of learning new material and content. My goal is to provide opportunities for students to construct their own learning. Additionally, I believe that students have an increased chance of learning when they feel safe to take risks. I make every effort to be keenly aware of each student's strengths and areas that need strengthening. I am responsible for nurturing the intellectual and emotional development of each student. It is my job to safeguard each student's freedom to express their thoughts, questions and ideas. My students perceive me as fair, trustworthy and approachable. As an added plus, for students who are interested in the arts, I am willing to share my knowledge of the Philadelphia Museum of Art's collection and provide enrichment field trips to the Museum.
