Hi. I have recently completed graduate classes in the reading specialist program at Cabrini College and am anxious to apply my skills. For the past 4 years, I have been a volunteer Literacy Council tutor working with an adult male struggling reader. We have made progress using the Magic Tree House Series books in his fluency, word recognition and confidence as a reader. In 2010, I worked with an Asian middle school student who was in the United States for 1 year. Each week I met with him and reviewed homework and study skills.
As a tutor, I will assess my student's strengths and weaknesses as well as provide an interest survey to determine their hobbies. This will help me to prepare lessons that will be tailored to their needs and interests. Each student is unique in their ability to learn and deserves the best possible lessons. I have many resources at home including text books, cd's and both elementary and middle school books. I look forward to meeting and working with new WyzAnt students.
