I am a parent of a teenager with autism and ADD. I have extensive personal and professional experience with students. I also have an undergraduate degree in psychology and an MS degree in Special Education with a teacher certification. I have worked one-on-one applying the principles of ABA with the moderate to severe students on the autism spectrum. During that time, I provided instruction in basic pre-school functions so that students could attend mainstream classes.

I have tutored students in math, reading, and provided accommodations and modifications so that students could learn how to take a test without anxiety. I have also been employed with the Colonial Intermediate Unit 20, and the Arc of Pennsylvania as a Consultant. These experiences have provided me the opportunity to observe students for needed support in the classroom and instruct teachers on Asperger's syndrome, social skills, standard aligned systems, and functional behavioral assessments/positive support plans within the public school system.

I have a teacher certification in special education in K-12. I am highly qualified by the state for elementary and middle school programs. However, not for high school.

I am a certified special education teacher for grades K-12. I am very skilled in providing basic reading skills and adapting them to students that have special needs.

I am a certified Special Education Teacher. I have a Masters in Special Education and a bachelors in psychology.

Career Development

I have training in providing and writing best practice IEP transition coordination for those with special needs who are trying who are transitioning out of school into post secondary education, vocational training or employment.

ADD/ADHD

I have 14 years of experience working with students that have ADHD and similar executive functioning difficulties. In addition, I have experience with multiple intelligence approaches, and hands on learning; which is the best way to instruct students with these difficulties. I do have significant behavior modification and social skills training if they struggle in those areas.

Aspergers

I have 14 years of Asperger's syndrome experience. I have trained teachers, mental health professionals, and administrators in positive supports, environmental modifications, and social skills training.

Autism

I have 14 years of experience with autism spectrum disorders. I spent 4 years working in early intervention applying the principals of ABA. Many of my students were potty trained, began to talk, and did really well with sequencing and language development.
