Good day: My name is William. In the past three years I have changed my career focus from business owner to educator. I have taught at the elementary, middle, high school and community college levels. I have tutored high school, college and adult students. I have tutored for classroom improvement and test preparation--ACT, SAT, ASVAB, GRE. I enjoy tutoring immensely and have been fortunate that my students have shown progress and have been successful.
My educational background includes a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University with heavy emphasis on math including Algebra; Trigonometry; Analytical Geometry; Elementary and Advanced Calculus; Differential Equations and Vector Analysis. I have an MBA (Master's in Business) from the University of Pittsburgh with emphasis on Analytical Methods for solving business problems.
I believe the following:
1. Math is a skill. The more you practice at solving problems, the easier it becomes.
2. Critical reading is needed in order to know what you are trying to solve.
3. Learning basic relationships of various geometries, i.e., triangles, circles, cubes and spheres etc. and committing these formulas to memory will go a long way to solving problems and also reduces the time required to solve problems on a test.
4. Solving problems will build self-confidence and hopefully help the student enjoy math.
Before inviting me into your home, you should know that I have my Act 33/34, Act 151 and FBI Clearances required to teach in a Pennsylvania Public School.
I will be happy to tutor in your home. I do require that a responsible adult be present. My experience is that a public or college library is a much better setting if that can be arranged.
