I am a secondary English
teacher in both the traditional (public and private) and virtual classroom environments. My teaching experience at the secondary level includes English literature
and composition, journalism
, and creative writing
in a public high school and teaching high school English as a virtual ("online") teacher in several virtual classroom platforms (BlackBoard Collaborate, MOODLE, Aventa). I have taught honors and basic skills English courses in addition to the regular curriculum.
I am certified to teach both English (grades 7-12) and Elementary in Pennsylvania (Instructional II) and Elementary (grades K -8) in New Jersey. I have been teaching for over 20 years at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. I also have extensive teaching experience at the elementary level in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. At the elementary level I have experience working with students with learning and reading
difficulties both in the whole class and small group settings. At the undergraduate level, I have completed course and field work in diagnosing and working with students with special learning needs.
I love to teach and I love to inspire my students to never settle for less than his or her best - whatever your greatest potential is as a student, I will help you achieve or exceed that! Your success is my success. Whether you need help with English grammar
, writing, critical reading and critical thinking skills, or are an elementary or middle school student struggling with a particular content area, my goal is to help you become a lifelong learner who thrives on intrinsic motivation and using what you have learned.
I employ a wide variety of teaching strategies in my tutoring because we all learn and process information in unique ways. I rely heavily on the methods and strategies that have worked in both the virtual and traditional learning environments and adapt those to fit the student's unique learning modality, grade level / age, and abilities in the tutoring environment. I will work with you to help you learn in ways best suited for you.
