I am a young energetic teacher who loves working one on one with students. I've taught children as young as 5 years old to elderly adults. I'm finicky about grammar, so I can help correct/edit essays, papers, projects, etc. I'm patient, creative, and focused to make sure that you understand what you need to know for school.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

English

I can help with English literature and composition; grammar in essays, understanding literary elements; practicing for standardized tests.

ESL/ESOL

I have a Master's of Science in Education for Teaching ESL from University of Pennsylvania. I've taught ESL children adults from many countries including Korea, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Poland, Japan, Brazil, Vietnam, China, and Taiwan. Teaching ESL is my passion because My parents are immigrants, so I understand the difficulties of learning American English.

I would like to know which areas of English you're most interested in improving, such as Speaking, Reading, Writing, Listening, Grammar, or Vocabulary. Then, we can create an integrated program so that you'll become fully fluent. I am extremely patient and creative in making lesson plans. In addition, I will cater my lesson plans so they will adjust to your style of learning.

IELTS

I've been teaching ESL for 8 years and have helped students prepare for their test.

Literature

I studied literature at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia. I can help you decipher literary figures and elements. We can discuss literary periods and famous authors.

SAT Reading

I teach juniors in a writing class where we practice SAT reading.

SAT Writing

I teach juniors in a writing class where we practice SAT writing.

Spanish

I studied abroad in Granada, Spain, when I was in college as a Spanish minor at St. Joseph's University. I taught Spanish to 6th and 10th graders. I can help improve verb conjugation, vocabulary and other linguistic skills.

TOEFL

I taught a TOEFL preparation course at ELS in Philadelphia. Students were preparing to take the test for a variety of reasons such as entrance to university or starting a new job here in the USA. We did sample questions from a test preparation book. We also used an online writing program through ETS that helped students improve their test writing.

Vocabulary

I always incorporate vocabulary into lessons because it helps increase students' communication skills.
