I am a university graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies. Under my major I personally designed my program in order to study philosophy and theology. Since then I have worked in the field of religious education and attained a TESOL/TESL/TEFL Certification from Oxford Seminars. With my past experience of working with students, and my new certification, I am well-prepared to take on the challenge of teaching English to students abroad. I love my job! I sincerely hope that you will find me to be a worthy applicant for this position.
Under the direction of my former teachers, the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, I was exposed to some of the best teachers in the world. From them I learned the value of proper preparation, a student-centered approach to teaching, the art of communication, and the importance of valuing each and every student in the room. These are values that I believe can cross any culture or language barrier, and create an atmosphere in the classroom that is conducive to learning.
As a mother of six children, I have had an abundance of life experiences with them that have given me an edge and an understanding of children that is rare and valuable. As a former Director of Religious Education, I developed an entirely new and successful program for my students; in it we incorporated a community service portion which benefited an enormous amount of people in the Philadelphia area. We also included service to children with tracheostomies. I believe that my work, family, and volunteer experiences will greatly enhance the classroom environment and will enable me to create a comfortable atmosphere for my students. I hope it will become apparent that I believe and practice the notion of service in all areas of my life, and because of that, I believe that I will be a valuable example to any student.
