A Bethlehem resident, I hold both Pennsylvania and New Jersey teaching certificates. I graduated from the post baccalaureate teacher education program with Western Governors University.
I have extensive experience working with a wide spectrum of students, including a year as assistant supervisor of a tutoring program for students in Morristown, New Jersey. I received the Recognition of Excellence Award for my Praxis scores in academic subjects. One of my strongest areas is math.
My classroom experience includes working as a teacher's assistant at a private school for students with learning disabilities, and as a group leader in an early bird program for public school students in Randolph, New Jersey.
For the past four years I have served as a substitute teacher at all grade levels K-12 in the Bethlehem Area School District. This position has allowed me to observe many teaching methods and to learn what works best for different students.
I tailor my tutoring style to fit the needs of the individual student. For the student who needs a more structured style, I use a very traditional approach. Some students respond better to a more relaxed or innovative tutoring style. I use the style that will produce the best results. Of course, as a tutor I must work within the curriculum taught by each individual's master teacher. I consider myself a supplement to that teacher.
