After having loved and taught U.S. and World History for 10 years, I decided it's time to be closer to my family in the Northeast. I grew up in NYC in a wonderful, very diverse neighborhood, Washington Heights (or, as I like to say, it was so good they turned it into a Broadway play!).
That diversity led me to an appreciation of many cultures, which in turn, perked up my interest in history. I've taken many courses in using art, music, photography, and other sources to interest my students in what they feel is a "useless" subject. However, by connecting their world to the past, they gain knowledge of history's importance.
I've been trained and worked with some incredible teachers in my school; Because of MY parents' history, I've also done training at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC and attended a three day National Conference for educators at the Museum.
Working with students can be a slow process, but it is always and enjoyable one.
I studied photography at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York City under some incredible photographers. In college I learned darkroom techniques, lighting and printing. I served as an assistant to a professional photographer while in school, and graduated from SVA with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Photography.
