English Literature, Computer, Studying, and SAT Tutor in Bensalem, PA

Dear Students and Parents,

I am a college graduate looking to give out my help and support to students who require help mainly in the areas of English writing and comprehension. I attended and graduated from Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA with a B.A. in English Literature and Philosophy and a cumulative GPA of 3.8. While attending Lycoming, I worked as the tutor for the philosophy department and greatly enjoyed helping out students with their classwork. I want to continue helping students with whatever problems they may be having in the English assignments, be it vocabulary, grammar, comprehension, or writing. I am comfortable working with students of all age groups, but I do have more experience with students who are older (9th grade and up). Philosophy

As a Philosophy graduate, I opened myself to many different philosophical studies from the earliest Greek philosophers up until some modern ideas. I've taken specialized courses in ancient Greek philosophy, animal treatment and philosophy, studies in aesthetics, social and political philosophy, metaphysics, science v. religion studies, medieval literature, and symbolic logic just to name a few. I also tutored the symbolic logic class over two semesters.

General Music

I have been involved with music since elementary school. I sang up until the beginning of high school but have played a brass instrument since 1995. Over the years I've acquired many different study skills to help me get through my different courses. Some courses required me to make a catalog of note cards, others it helped for me to mark up my books, and still others were so complex I felt the need to record them and listen to them again later. Microsoft Outlook

I have personally used the Microsoft Outlook program for over six years. I am versed in nearly all aspects of the program including linking outside e-mail accounts to the inbox (such as aol, yahoo, etc.), setting up appointments on the calendar, and managing contacts. I know how to flag and mark messages, change the inbox view, and use the Microsoft Office clipboard feature which allows to share documents through different Microsoft Office programs.

Classics

During College I took a classic literature class and received an A. My coursework included Greek and Roman literature including Homer, Virgil, Euripides, Herodotus, Horace, Juvenal, and Ovid just to name a few. I wrote several papers on both the Iliad and the Odyssey on the topics of epic similes and on the character of Aeneas. I'm also familiar with many aspects of Greek mythology, which show up frequently in classic literature.
