History & Language Arts/English Tutor For All Learners

I have been working with students for the past 16 years in various forms: mentoring, tutoring, and teaching.

I am a student-centered educator. I have an understanding of the various learning styles: kinetic, auditory, and visual. I am able to connect with students in helping them learn based on their learning style. My goal is to not only assist in completing assignments to the best of a student's ability but giving the student the tools necessary to be successful in other areas of his/her life.

I am a PDE certified teacher in social studies (7th-12th) and special education (N-12th).
I can assist in bring up reading and math levels, social studies course work, and English language arts course work, as well as creative writing, public speaking, and beginner graphic design using Adobe Photoshop.

American History

I am certified to teach Social Studies in the state of Pennsylvania for grades 7-12. I have studied American history and the racial complexities of American History.

Basic geography: naming continents, oceans, types of regions, etc.

Adobe Photoshop

I can provide tutoring on Adobe Photoshop from the basic introductory level to more advance graphic manipulation.

Economics

Intro to Macroeconomics: principles of employment, inflation, business cycles, and growth.
Intro to Microeconomics: principles of price determination, creation of value, distribution of income, competition, and international trade.
Banking and Financial Institutions: financial decision making and the functions of financial markets.

Proofreading

For the past 5 years I have proofread papers from students of varying grade levels (secondary, undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral). I can assist in APA style, grammar, context, continuity, and coherency.

Special Needs

I am certified in the state of Pennsylvania to teach Special Education.

I can assist in the development of the following skills:

- Reading & writing remediation (including handwriting skills)

- Note taking & study skills

Public Speaking

I've spoken in various arenas for more than 15 years and have assisted others with speaking in public for 5 years.

In public speaking I will work with you on your posture, eye contact, tone, delivery (inflections, pauses, etc.), body language. We will discuss the purpose of the speaking engagement and the sentiments the deliverer would like those receiving the message to obtain from the message.

Social Studies

I am certified in the state of Pennsylvania for Social Studies in grades 7 - 12. The top disciplines within the Social Studies curriculum I am most proficient in are History, Sociology, Geography, Political Science, and Economics.

Not only can I help with studying techniques to assist in memorization but also analytical and rationalization to assist understanding the different disciplines of Social Studies
