My name is Bonnie. I am a long time educator who can provide flexible and stress-free tutoring to elementary age children with various needs.

I have extensive experience teaching Elementary School children. My favorite elementary subject is Math and I love helping students become more proficient Math students. I have a lot of experience with the Chicago Every Day Math Program and I am familiar with the Elementary School Math curriculum from kindergarten through 5th grade. I have plenty of patience and I understand when math can be hard for some students to grasp. I would be pleased to work with any student in elementary school who needs extra support to be more successful math.

I can also support students with needs beyond math. I am a certified special education and elementary education teacher. I am also a Pennsylvania State Certified School Psychologist. I am very willing to work with all types of learners in any and all elementary school subjects on study skills or help with homework, and I would be glad to communicate with your child's classroom teacher to help coordinate assignments between home and school.

Thank you for your interest.

Elementary Education:

Elementary (K-6th)

I am a Pennsylvania state certified special education and elementary education teacher with 30 years of classroom experience in elementary education. I graduated from Penn State in 1979 with a duel degree in elementary and special education. I earned a Masters degree in early childhood education from Chestnut Hill College and a second Masters degree in computer education from Philadelphia University. I am well versed in the curriculum for kindergarten through 6th grade for all major subjects. I can teach the basic skills of reading, writing, math, science, and social social studies to elementary school students. I am able to assess a student's areas of strength and need across content areas and help to teach a student the skills that they need the most to keep up in their classroom. I can help all elementary age students to master grade level skills. I have had extensive experience guiding learners to become more effective students. I can break academic tasks down into smaller steps to ensure student success. I am aware of the prerequisite skills a student needs acquire prior to being presented with new material. I am capable of working with parents and teachers to help support any elementary school age student to succeed in the classroom setting. I recognize that tutoring is only one facet of a child's education and that making adequate progress may involve more than working with a tutor. When tutoring is offered in concert with parent and school support, a student will be more likely to learn and achieve at his/her highest potential.

Elementary Math

I am qualified to tutor elementary level mathematics beause I earned a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Penn State University and taught math in an elementary level classroom for 30 years.

* Elementary Math Coach, K-5 Elementary School
* Classroom Teacher - Grades 4 & 5
* Computer Science Teacher, Grades K-6

Study Skills

I can teach students to develop study skills through the use of flash cards, outlines, graphic organizers, and mnemonics.

I can address the skills needed to read content material for meaning and how to take notes or highlight main ideas in the content.

I am able to help students formulate answers to essay questions and how to ensure they address major points or facts when responding to essay questions.

I can help students use technology to access on-line study tools.

I can show students how to break down material into manageable parts in order to study over time instead of cramming the night before.

I can work with students to use their school-based web site to access information teachers are posting to help them in their classes.

I am willing to work with students to guide them toward developing productive and efficient study habits that will improve their overall performance in school.

Very patient and well informed of what she is teaching. — My son was a little distracted in the beginning, but she was strategically able to redirect his focus to where she needed him to be for a productive and progressive outcome. She is truly a wonderful and an exciting tutor. ...
