Hello! My name is Dorothy and my passion is to help students understand science: biology (all levels), chemistry, and general science are my Pennsylvania type I certifications to date. Currently I substitute teach in several school districts. I also teach Anatomy and physiology I and II in the community college and the university, and have also taught microbiology, introductory biology for majors and non-majors, and developmental biology.
In my previous positions, I worked as a research scientist as a biologist and a biochemist. My hands-on medical knowledge and background comes in handy when I am giving "real life" examples of the more complex concepts in biology and chemistry. In fact, I'm a firm believer in an interactive approach between student and teacher where we work together to reach your goals. To do that, I have an array of learning materials, both visual and interactive, to better understand how you learn best and to help "unpack" difficult topics into smaller portions before integrating it into a larger concept. Education courses and my student teaching experiences that I took at Arcadia University also helped me apply my scientific knowledge to teaching the sciences to students with all levels of science knowledge.
So if you want to improve your grades in biology, chemistry, or general science, let me help you develop the science learning solutions you need to achieve the goals you desire.
