Hi there! My name's Irene, and I'm a recent graduate from Johns Hopkins University with a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology and a B.A. in German. I tutored formally and informally throughout high school and college, and I love talking to and working with students of all ages! I'm excited to offer tutoring in the natural sciences up to a collegiate level and German and English at a high school/AP level. I am also open to SAT and GRE tutoring, having taken both.
As far as credentials go, my primary fields of study are anatomy and physiology and molecular biology, particularly biochemistry and genetics. I've done extensive labwork--two and a half years at labs at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institute and abroad, at the Helmholtz Zentrum München in Munich, Germany--and am comfortable teaching and explaining basic biology lab techniques, from Western Blots to cryoslicing. I have some experience with evolutionary biology and developmental biology as well.
I'm an avid writer; I was editor-in-chief of Collage, Emmaus High School's literary magazine, from 2007-2008, and continued taking writing courses while at university. I am close to fluent in the German language, having studied it for nine years. As mentioned above, I spent four months in Munich in near-constant immersion, and feel comfortable tutoring all levels up to AP German. I also have a strong non-academic interest in American and European history, and am comfortable tutoring at a high school/AP level in both subjects.
If you would like further credentials, or SAT or GRE test scores, please contact me privately, and I'll do my best to accommodate you. I look forward to hearing from you!
