Greetings! My name is Ian, and I thank you for visiting my tutoring page. I am a recent graduate of Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA, receiving my B.S. in biology with secondary education teacher's certification in biology and general science in May 2012 with an overall GPA of 3.94. While at Moravian, I majored in biology and took a broad array of biological science classes, including zoology, botany, genetics, evolution, ecology, cell physiology, and comparative vertebrate anatomy. In addition to these lecture based courses with weekly labs, I also took a lecture based class called humans and the global ecosystem (basically environmental studies), a seminar class on applied microbiology, and I completed my own independent experiment on Phasmid (stick insect) behavior. As part of the biology major, I had to complete two courses of general chemistry and two courses of organic chemistry.
To receive teaching certification, I minored in education, taking several lecture based classes on pedagogy and classroom management. Additionally, a major part of my education minor was a total of four early field experiences in Bethlehem Area School District schools as well as a semester of student teaching at two different schools - Easton Area Middle School 7-8 and Wilson Area High School.
Between my knowledge of science and my background in teaching, I have the capability to lead students to deep understandings of science in a variety of ways. I am passionate about both science and teaching, and I would enjoy being able to assist middle school, high school, or college students on their way to building their understandings of science and earning high grades. I am willing to tutor nearly and biological science or chemistry class in whatever way a student best learns; I am available to teach in the Lehigh Valley and would be willing to travel outside of the Lehigh Valley as well to help students, whether the tutoring session is a simple study session before a test or a more intense, frequent tutoring session to teach, reteach, and/or review materials.
Thank you again for visiting my tutoring page. I hope you find the above information useful, and I look forward to assisting you or your student in the future!
