Hi! My name is Ruth. I'm a recent graduate of the University of Oregon with my Masters in Education. I'm endorsed in Math and Social Studies, but I'm also a pretty good writer. I received excellent grades in college, graduating Magna Cum Laude in my undergraduate, and receiving a 4.0 in my Masters studies.
In addition to my academic experience, I received my B.A. in Music with a focus in voice and a minor in theater. I have also played violin for 19 years, and received classical training for 13 of those years, though right now, I mostly play folk music. I have extensive experience with community theater in Eugene, and small production companies.
I am part of the Society for Creative Anachronism, a medieval reenactment group for the purposes of learning about how life was in the Middle Ages and Renaissance.
I am part of the Teen Crew at the Oregon Country Fair. I help to match teens up with crews to volunteer with, and act as a liaison with the crews and a troubleshooter when problems arise during the event itself.
I really love working with teens, especially younger teens, and appreciate their unique perspectives on life. I see my role as a teacher to be that of bringing meaning and relevancy to material that students are having a hard time engaging in and helping to create a learning environment that can be fun as well as academic.
