What I love about tutoring is working with someone who has struggled and--finally, one day--seeing them have a breakthrough of understanding. I am known for my patience, which is a useful virtue if I have an impatient and frustrated learner. I have some strengths that I feel lend to my successful tutoring ability: I am gentle, and I've been told that I am very humble with my talents, meaning I am not demanding or intimidating when working with someone who is struggling. If a student is not comfortable with their instructor, there will automatically be a “learning block.” Also of significant importance: I am quiet, focused and, therefore, will not deviate from the subject matter. Furthermore, I am quite strategic in my ability to help a “wandering” student stay on the main path.
I have a BS in Mathematics and have experience tutoring all areas of Math from basic math to advanced Calculus. I am also adept (and formally educated) in Physics and Computer Science. I also have worked as an accountant and analyst for a corporate restructuring firm specializing in turning around troubled companies.
