I am a certified K-12 Special education teacher with specific experience working in Mathematics classrooms as a Algebra/Pre-Algebra teacher. I have been in this role for 14 years and continue to provide specially designed instruction in the general classroom in a co-taught setting. The standardized test scores in that classroom have exploded! I have all the materials and experience...add the ingredients of hard work and willingness to look at math in a different light, and we will see results.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I am certified as a K-12 special education teacher. I have spent 14 years in inclusion classrooms working side by side in co-taught algebra classrooms for the last decade. I work with nearly 70 special education students daily with nearly half diagnosed with ADHD.

Dyslexia

I have worked as a certified Special Education teacher for 15 years. During this time I have worked with countless students who were dyslexic. This continues to be a part of my current role as a special education teacher and will have several dyslexic students on my case load this year.

Special Needs

I am a certified K-12 Special education teacher with specific experience working in Mathematics classrooms as a Algebra/Pre-Algebra teacher. I have been in this role for 14 years and continue to provide specially designed instruction in the general classroom in a co-taught setting. I specialize working with students who are working towards proficiency in the inclusion setting.

Study Skills

I have taught a resource level study skills course for a decade. In this class we used time to teach organizational skills, reading comprehension strategies, and test taking skills. I start each semester or tutoring opportunity with an informal needs assessment on organizational strategies to guide my next move with the student. It is important to develop those skills and then move into the reading or content strategies to assist with studying.

Great with teens and NLD's - Highly recommend! — Mitch has the perfect talent to teach middle and high school math to kids! Including those with learning disorders. He makes it fun and understands how to approach a complex algebra problem in the way my son would grasp it. It made me want to jump in and learn it too! He's flexible, timely and easy to work with. My 12 and 14 year old, who loath algebra, began asking when he was coming again! That' ...
