When I decided that I wanted to take the GRE, I knew that I would want to review for the math portion of the test. Besides studying on my own I also knew I would want a tutor, and this is how I found Steve. Over the course of three months I had weekly tutoring sessions with Steve to help prepare me for the test. The sessions were great, I would work on math problems with Steve that I couldn't completely get on my own. We would work through the problems at my pace, and Steve would help work out the problems with me and he always explained the process along the away. And if I still didn't get something Steve would make sure to explain the problem in another way until I felt comfortable with it and completely understood it. In addition to all the time Steve spent with me in our tutoring sessions, he also made time to answer questions I might have via email, and provide me with additional informational worksheets that I could print out and use for reference. Overall Steve was a wonderful tutor and I would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for help with the math portion of the GRE.
"A lovely tutor."

I used Steve to study for the GRE quantitative section. I hadn't taken a math class in 5 years and was very rusty. Steve helped me review even the most simple problems. I appreciated his humor. However, since the GRE encompasses many different subjects, it was necessary that I come with problems to work through. It sometimes took us a long time to go through one problem, because Steve was also trying to figure out the best way to work it out. I found it best to email him problems before hand, so we could efficiently get to everything I had a question about. Overall, I improved my math score dramatically and in a painless way.
"A wonderful experience!"

Working with Steve was a great experience! We started meeting with barely over a month left before I was to take the GRE. He was more than willing to meet multiple times per week, and had a flexible schedule. Our meetings were productive, and he was very patient if I did not understand a topic.
I just took the GRE today and scored above my goal and within requirements of the graduate school to which I am applying.
Thank you, Steve! You were a big part of my success!

I could not have asked for a better tutor to help me prepare for the math section of the GRE. Steve is patient, kind, and committed. When I started working with him I could barely remember the most basic high school algebra, but after two months of tutoring I felt ready to approach even the more difficult math problems on the GRE. Steve went out of the way to send me extra practice sheets and helpful advice, he was flexible in scheduling, and he genuinely cared about my success. Without his patient and diligence in teaching me math, I don't think I would have felt so confident taking the test. I am very lucky to have had Steve as a tutor.
"Awesome tutor "

I found Steve to be a very flexible teacher always looking for ways to make learning a new processes easy and more understandable, he is not afraid to go out side the box with his teaching methods.
Steve is also very intuitive and can tell when your on over load. I highly recommend him as a math tutor.
"Great help for our daughter"
Dina from Vancouver, WA on 8/23/13
We asked Steve to assist our daughter in preparing for a college math placement exam. She worked well with Steve, as he initially assessed her strengths and weaknesses in a patient manner, then they moved forward from there. She felt comfortable asking questions throughout their sessions. We all feel the time spent was valuable and the results were successful. Thank you, Steve!
"A Pleasure To Work With!"

I was looking for a patient tutor to help me plow through the GRE math problems. It had been over six years since I completed a college-level math course. I only had three weeks to prepare for the GRE and Steve was available and fairly flexible, to meet at least once a week, sometimes more. He is very friendly but all business when it comes to your time. If you are looking for someone to help you reconnect with math, Steve T. is your guy!

Steve was a perfect match for our 15 year old son. He took the time to meet with us first to determine if they would be a good match, before beginning a tutoring lesson. Steve helped him to understand Algebra in a different way, one that made sense, while using positive reinforcements that helped build up his confidence. I have recommended Steve to many of our friends, and if we need a tutor again, we will definitely contact him again!
Ronna from Portland, OR on 12/4/12
Steve started working with my 15 year old son right when school began and we quickly realized he needed some help with algebra. He struggled the year before, and just couldn't reach a confidence level with math. Along came Steve! With twice a week tutoring sessions and some unconventional, yet fun strategies Steve has helped my son feel confident and in control. He not only has a good solid B in math, his entire report card was filled with A's and B's!
Steve replied on 4/18/2013:
At a later date, Ronna wrote me this:
"Just a note to thank you again for being a piece in my son's success in school. He has been working hard on his self-esteem over the last several months. This has led him to the ambition to start working out and lose 43 pounds. He has also worked hard at school. He has an A in math and recently made the honor roll!"
Well, I can't guarantee that you will lose 43 pounds as my student, but you will understand the math that is troubling you!
"Knowledgeable and easy to understand."

My granddaughter looks forward to her tutoring sessions with Steve. He has a relaxed easy way of instruction that helps her to grasp the material without feeling pressure. She is preparing to take the ACT test and has been very nervous about it. Steve has helped her with tips she can use as well as helping her feel more confident in her own abilities. She doesn't fear the time restrictions of the test nearly as much as before Steve started tutoring her. Thanks Steve.
"Wise, kind and good."

My son can do all his math homework in one sitting because of Steve's superpowers.
Before Steve, my son had an F math average. My son doesn't yet have an A average, but he does know that he could have an A and he knows how to get it.
"Patient tutor yet not a push over great for teenagers "
Valerie from Camas, WA on 6/13/12
Steve worked with my two teenagers, 14 and 17 years old, once a week for a couple of months. When he started they were both failing math. Steve was very patient and easy to work with and under his care both of my children began to "get" it. With Steve there was no arguing or excuses. We have used a different service in the past but the lady was too nice and the kids walked all over her. Steve was gentle yet firm. His mannerisms were effective as he didn't come off as a know it all but the kids still really seemed to respect him which says a lot about his character and knowledge of the subject.
I would recommend Steve to anyone looking for an excellent tutor for their kids.
