Public Speaking? Reading? Writing? Math? Sign Language? Harp or Piano? Test-Taking Skills? You can master the subject you are struggling with! I have had extensive education and experience tutoring students from kindergarten through college, and it would be a privilege to be part of your educational journey as well! I firmly believe every student can learn and master the material. Having won many awards on the college speech and debate team, I believe every individual is benefited by the confidence of being able to articulate their thoughts. With my degree in Elementary Education, I can help students with subjects in K-8th. Working with high school students, I have helped students from failing to the honor roll in reading, math, essay writing, and more. Substituting in the public school system, I have had extensive experience with various learning styles and individualize my instruction for each student's needs. Along with this, I have worked with students through Portland State University on entry exams in reading, writing, math, and CBEST preparation. I'm a private music instructor for the harp, piano, beginning music composition, and music theory. Thank you for considering me as a tutor!

Algebra 1

Math is often daunting, but I believe that the mystery can be taken out of it! Algebra is a fascinating study in numbers and unknowns. I'm the official Math GED tutor at American School of Success, and I have helped many students with math skills through Portland State University and private tutoring.

In the last few years I have been tutoring college students at Portland State University through private contracts. In these tutoring sessions the major emphasis has been on the CBEST. I feel very confident in helping students succeed in each of the CBEST components.

Composition (Music)

In the last 7 years, I have worked with music composition with my music students. When it comes to training I took Music Theory and Composition at college. Since then I have written different compositions for my harp and continued to study basic composition.

I have studied dyslexia personally and for my degree in elementary education. I had classes on working with students with special needs, and I have personally worked with students with dyslexia in my tutoring. There are specific strategies to helping these students learn in a way that is clear and tangible for them. In my subbing, I've worked with dyslexic students, and my brother has dyslexia as well.

Elementary (K-6th)

My bachelor's degree is in Elementary Education, and I am licensed in Oregon. Currently, I am substituting in the Oregon City, Multnomah, and West Linn school districts. In addition to this, I have been tutoring students for several years.

General Music

For the last seven years I have been a multi-functional private music instructor. I instruct students in beginning & intermediate piano, harp, music theory, and composition. With my degree in elementary education, I have been substituting in music classes for overall understanding of rhythm, expression, and musical awareness.

My degree is elementary education, and I am currently tutoring students in phonics and reading. Working in a first grade classroom, tutoring beginning readers, and studying phonics have all contributed to my ability to help students with phonics.

I have been teaching piano lessons for the last 7 years. Also, I have taken college music education and music theory classes. Personally, I have played the piano for 19 years.

To receive my license in education, I had to complete the Praxis. I scored in the top 15% on the national level. In addition to this, I have tutored students in the reading, writing, and math elements of the CBEST at Portland State University, which is often considered a comparable teaching test in various states.

Public Speaking

My degree was in Communications at college before I changed my major to education. In high school, I won a national speaking award. I was on the speech and debate team in college and won silver for my informative at the national speech competition. In the past six years, I have tutored speech in the college setting and in private tutoring. I can help students with informative, persuasive, introductions, critical thinking, impromptu, and more. It is essential to have good presentation skills with eye contact, deliberate movement, and good word choice. I feel confident I can help students in each of these areas.

Sign Language

I took several years of American Sign Language in college, and I have been a tutor at the college level for sign. I have experience in beginning and intermediate sign language. Also, I have helped students put music into sign language.
