My entire life I have enjoyed teaching and helping others. Throughout high school and college, friends came to me for help in all subject areas; my teachers even grouped me with struggling students so that I could help them through difficult concepts and class work. After high school I attended the University of Oregon Robert D. Clark Honors College for a B.A. in Economics, with a minor in Mathematics, and a GPA of 3.67.
In tutoring, I first focus on understanding exactly what a student is having trouble with, then use a conceptual, process-based approach to building comprehension and skill. I find that by pursuing deeper understanding in a subject, students are able to better appreciate it, and, in turn, learn and enjoy learning about it much more. The problem for many students is that, with classes of forty or more, teachers are unable to devote enough time and attention to each student. Whether your student is struggling with classes or needs help preparing for the SAT, ACT, AP Exams, etc., I can provide the attention and organization that your student needs to realize his or her full potential.
I graduated Valedictorian from Westview High School with a weighted GPA of 4.23 and a class rank of 9/689. On the SAT I scored 790 Math, 780 Verbal, 690 Writing. I scored a 5 on the AP Exams for Physics, Calculus AB, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and English Literature, and a 4 on the AP Exams for English Language, European History, and U.S. Government and Politics.
