My name is Dr. Edward and I have just retired from the education field. I have a doctoral degree in education from Nova Southeastern University and I am certified by the Association of Christian Schools International and the American Association of Christian Schools. I have taught all grades from first through college, mainly in the areas of reading, English grammar, writing, history, and elementary math. I am married and have two grown sons and two grandchildren. I love children and young people and have worked with them for close to 50 years. I like especially to work with students who need extra help with their studies. Working one on one with students is a joy and privilege.

Bible Studies

I believe the Bible is the basis of all truth, so it is important to have a good grasp of biblical concepts and world view. While in Bible college and seminary, I took many Bible courses. In teaching in Christian schools, I taught many Bible courses, along with integrating the Bible into other subjects as well.

Elementary (K-6th)

Over the past 50 years, I have taught and administered in both public and private Christian schools in North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Vermont. I have taught all elementary grades and subjects, including phonics, reading, writing, and math. Most of my teaching experience in the elementary division has been in fourth, fifth, and sixth grades, although I have taught reading and phonics and writing in the lower grades. I believe that phonics is the basis to learning proper reading skills.
I have also written curriculum, including an elementary grammar series and a math series. I designed a cursive penmanship program as well. It is exciting to see students make progress and become excited about learning. My desire is to make a difference in their lives.

Phonics is the basis of all good reading skills. Teaching students the sounds of each letter or combination of letters makes enables them to learn to read quite easily. I have worked with many students in this area and seen them go from poor readers to excellent readers using phonics. Phonics is the basis of reading, and reading is crucial to all subjects. Good readers make good students.

For any students desiring to learn about religion, I have had experience in teaching Bible and religion in Christian schools over the years. Religion can help a student understand all subjects and the meaning of truth. Religion is involved with most subjects in some way, especially in subjects such as history, literature, and science.

Study Skills

Proper study skills are crucial to becoming an excellent student. This is true in all subject areas. Over the years through elementary, secondary, college, and graduate school, implementing study skills caused me to be successful as a student. Learning to concentrate and scan with understanding have been skills that have helped me in all my studies. Whether in elementary school or higher, it is important to learn and internalize such skills. Having taught all grade levels, I have had experience in conveying such skills to many students with success.
