Hi, my adult students call me Ms. "H." I am glad to see that you are taking the time to visit me on WyzAnt Tutoring. This tells me that you are very determined and focused in your short-term goals.
Now, I am going to give you a short autobiography about myself. From 2000-2010, I became certified tutor through the Western Arkansas Literacy Council. During 2002-2003, I was an on-call Teacher's Aide for the school system. After I departed Arkansas,I became a certified tutor for Oklahoma through the Literacy Council of Leflore County. In 2010, I became the instructor and facilitator for the adult TANF Literacy Initiative Program. The adult students that have completed the program have obtained their GEDS, Career Readiness Certificates, learned Life Skills, and increased their grade equivalencies to pursue higher learning and job skills in the POWER1 program at Carl Albert State College. I greatly appreciate being able to tutor all of those in need.

I am here to help you open the door to grammar, but you must walk through it.
A preview test which covers the main points will be submitted, so I can identify your learning styles which will affect your strengths and challenge areas in grammar. Afterwards, I will prepare a visual grammar evaluation chart which will display content areas in which your grammar skill assignments will be focused on to do the most work.
My first lesson goals are to instruct you on how to correctly use different tools for grammar, recognize important sentence parts, and distinguish between the types of sentences.
For the past 13 years, I have used different methods of facilitating phonics because learners have different learning styles, challenges, and comprehension levels. In phonics, I utilize VKAT in the Multi-Sensory Approach because this technological age learns mostly by visualization and Kinesthetics.
Before we begin, I would like to prepare a Reading Inventory to know your Frustration, Instructional, and Independent Levels. This inventory will assist me in evaluating your strengths and challenges in reading skills for comprehension.
Reading Skills will be in this order: phonics, word recognition, comprehension, and writing. My goals to third grade or lower reading learners are to: teach to read automatically from left to right, teach a basic vocabulary that which may be recognize at sight, teach how to sound out unfamiliar words, teach to analyze structure of words, help increase vocabulary, help increase comprehension of reading matter, & build and maintain interest in acquiring reading skills.
Before we start spelling, I will administer the diagnostic placement/test to you. This diagnostic will help me gear the material to your strongest prerequisite spelling skills you possess and your challenge areas to meet your needs. Prerequisite skills that I will evaluate you for are being able to hear and manipulate syllables and letter sounds, knowing the sequence of the alphabet, alphabetizing, and rhyming.
If some prerequisite skills are challenge areas, your next step will be to complete the readiness lesson to spelling composed of all prerequisite skills.
I will teach each lesson over three-session format beginning with a pretest over the sight words and ending with spelling quizzes over sight words and word families.
I have been an adult tutor since 2000. I was an ESOL tutor for the Literacy Council of Western Arkansas for 10 years. In 2009, I became a full-time instructor/tutor for the Literacy Council of Leflore County. Currently, I successfully facilitate/instruct adult students in their studying skills for college placement entrance exams,WorkKeys Certificate,remediation, and Pre-GED readiness. Every year, I successfully complete a nine-hour training on innovative techniques for tutoring.
