My name is Megan and I am 26 years old. I am from a small town in Oklahoma and went to college at Northern Arizona University. Awarded with high honors, I graduated from school receiving a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a medical emphasis. Alongside my academic career, I am certified as an Emergency Medical Technician. I have always been very passionate about academia and that is why I started sharing my view with others. Tutoring for the past six years has been a way to express the love I have for school. It has also been a way to shape my personal character into becoming a better educator. My diverse background in Chemistry and medicine has allowed me the ability to educate students in all areas of science. In addition to science, I am also well versed in mathematics and preparation for standardized test taking.
I believe the most important quality a student should obtain for academic success, is excellent study skills. I pride myself in cementing fun and constructive ways to improve study habits. I share a mutual, respectful relationship with all of my students. Because of this, I am able to efficiently excel them into being successful in the academic realm.
In addition to higher education, I truly enjoy teaching students in elementary school. I was a part of Big Brothers Big Sisters for four years. Over those years, I mentored and tutored two little 'sisters.' In an effort to make learning fun, I came up with creative ways to convey concepts. For instance, my little 'sister' was struggling to memorize the structures of the cell body, so we created an edible science model out of cake and assorted candies. We cut out certain parts of the cake and used the candy to represent parts of the cell. Needless to say, we ate all of the parts of the cell, including the nucleus.
If you have any questions about my teaching styles or how I can better assist you, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to the opportunity to help you or your child prepare for the future.

Megan is outstanding. My 9th grade daughter struggles with ADHD and dyslexia, so we've had more than our fair share of tutors over the years. My daughter truly looks forward to their sessions twice a week. Megan tutors her in all subjects, helps her to develop organizational skills, and is always prompt, well prepared, enthusiastic, and engaging. Immediately after each session, she sends a detailed report about what they worked on. Also, if there is a conflict, she is quick to reschedule. She is invested in my daughter's success and so sensitive to her teenage psyche, that she has become a mentor as well as tutor. She is clearly passionate about helping students learn. She has our highest recommendation.
Megan has met with my son twice so far for math tutoring. My son is challenged with ADD, and has difficulty in the areas of math and reading. Megan immediately made him feel comfortable and was extremely relatable to the challenges that he faces. She was patient, funny, genuine, which made my son feel at ease. When we left the very first lesson my son said, and I quote, "She is awesome! I really feel like I learned something today." That in itself is an accomplishment! Thank you Megan!
My daughter couldn't be more pleased with Megan as her tutor. Megan arrives on time and comes prepared. She gets right to business. She has done a great job of explaining concepts and then has my daughter explain the lesson back to her. I would highly recommend Megan.
I wasn't sure exactly what area of chemistry I needed to know for my a&p class but she took the time to narrow it down in advance. She dealt with my questions really well and gave good explanations without overuse of technical terminology. She is a good listener and it's very easy to pay attention to her and tune out everything else. I will definitely contact her again.
Megan always goes above and beyond. Megan makes sure sure our daughter has a full understanding of the material they cover.
Megan is a wonderful tutor. She is very knowledgeable in geometry. Megan has a great system when teaching and showing problem examples using a white board. She is patient and will not move on until she is certain her student understands the concept. Megan has a wonderful personality and connects with her students. I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking a tutor. We are very pleased with the results.
My daughter over scheduled herself with several difficult classes this year, and was behind and struggling with honors chemistry. In fact, my daughter has been so overwhelmed that she was using words like "I can't" and "I'm just not smart enough to do this." Megan helped her by preparing some study guides for an upcoming test and sent them to my daughter in advance of the session to make the most use of their time together. She helped her get organized and supported her in realizing how much she knows already and the areas left to study in preparation for the big test day. My daughter's whole attitude was uplifted and back on track by the end of this session. Megan cleared up the fuzzy areas, and gave my daughter some tips on how to make learning fun and in line with the way she learns best. Megan is very knowledgeable and friendly, making the student comfortable and feeling confident in no time.
Megan's first lesson with my daughter was helpful. My daughter said that she feels Megan will be a tremendous help to her regarding geometry. She was very patient with my daughter, great job!
Megan is great. I knew she would be based on her bio and other comments. I chose her carefully and sure enough my daughter has a great connection with her. She gave my daughter something I like to call “math confidence.” After the first session my daughter was able to look at math with a little more confidence within herself and in general. I look forward to see how well she continues to do. Too bad I found Megan so late in the school year. The first comment my daughter said about Megan is that she noticed how “patient” she is, which is important when dealing with my daughter.
After a few weeks my daughter GOT AN A ON HER MATH TEST!!!
Megan is an awesome tutor! Really cares about her students and you can tell she loves tutoring. My daughter has always struggled in Math. Megan does an awesome job explaining the math problems to her in a way that she would understand them.
Our daughter was starting to get behind in her 6th grade advanced math class. She wasn't retaining the concepts and was feeling rather defeated. In a few sessions Megan has already helped her progress by reviewing the lessons in a manner that works for her to understand and retain as well as covering study and test taking skills. Megan's patient and encouraging guidance has definitely helped with our daughter’s confidence level. Megan is an excellent tutor and we highly recommend her!
I very much needed a tutor, I emailed Megan and she responded quickly and she was very patient with me, very knowledgeable and I could not have asked for a better tutor. I am glad I contacted her and I am looking forward to continuing working with her.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been tutoring Pre-Kindergarten-12 grade for the last 6 years with great success. I am very familiar with common core standards and teaching them due to my past and present students. Along with tutoring, I have been substitute teaching over the past year, so I have had direct help learning and teaching these academic standards in mathematics and English language arts/literacy. To be an employee of a school district you must be knowledgeable and up to date of the academic standards.
I have been learning how to cook since I could literally walk. I was born in Oklahoma so I was raised cooking unhealthy yet delicious foods. However, I realized when I ate healthier I felt better. Therefore I taught myself how to make healthy yet delicious meals. Anything you want to learn to cook I can teach you. From basic concepts to advanced meals.
I am a firm believer that the years spent in elementary school are the most precious for developing both confidence and study habits. During your child’s education, two roles must be fulfilled for successful pavement of their future. The first role, represented by your child’s educators, is to nurture and encourage your child’s learning endeavors. This is very important for creating a fun, stress-free learning environment. The next role involves both child and educator parties and encompasses embracing their education. This is very important for the willingness and curiosity of further learning. As 4-year volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters, I know I can epitomize these roles and help your child succeed in all facets of education. Several of my previous students have taken the skills I portray onto them all the way to their collegiate years. Please let me a piece of your child’s education and help them become the absolute best they can be in the classroom.

I took several classes in my undergraduate that helped me learn about nutrition. I am naturally inquisitive when it comes to eating right. I have helped most of my family members discover the art of eating healthy and losing weight. Losing weight doesn't have to be hard if you understand it and being healthy feels great.
I began to study sign language when I was 17. A friend of mine had a mother and father that were both deaf. I longed to communicate with them in their own language so I enrolled at my local community college. I began taking night school since I was still in high school and fell in love with the language. I continued taking classes during college and completed 4 semesters. I have kept my skills sharp buy practicing and teaching sign language regularly.
I graduated from high school with a 4.04 and from college 3.46 with a degree in Chemistry. To accomplish these things you have to have good study skills. The hardest thing for a student to realize is what study habit works for them. I have helped many people find their groove when it comes to studying.
