I have worked in a variety of educational institutions. I began my career working at a Juvenile Detention Center as a Recreational Therapist. I then took a position working at a children's home working as an Alternative School Teacher, teaching K-12 in all subjects. I then took an offer to work in Texas as a Health, PE, and Girl's Coach for three years. My husband and I are both from Oklahoma and our children wanted to move back to where family lived so that they could graduate from the same school that my husband and I graduated. This done, I took a position with Crooked Oak Public Schools as a Language Arts teacher for middle school and Girl's Varsity Basketball Coach, Softball Coach, and Track. I worked there for 6 years when I decided to broaden my horizons and go to work for US Grant. I taught 10th grade English, and I was the Asst. for boy's basketball. It was truly an amazing opportunity and I received a lot of training with technology and working with a very diverse population as all my jobs have provided. This year I am working at the Alternative site for Norman Public Schools. I find that our students are in need of alternative methods every day and tutoring is just another option for those who wish to excel beyond their expectations, catch up with one-on-one training, or just trying to stay focused on school work. It's really a great opportunity to do those things that are impossible to achieve in a regular classroom setting. Thank goodness for technology and extra time to prepare.
