I have been teaching high school and early college-aged students since 1989: English, literature, religious studies, humanities, film studies and creative writing.
In 2010, I became certified to teach middle school language arts and now teach part-time in the public schools. I tutored full-time at a community college near where I live in the last year, and am currently teaching courses in Composition and Literature at a regional university.
I have a lot of tutoring experience with students who have learning or physical disabilities or are "at risk" educationally for various reasons. I have embraced the challenge and opportunity of working with students who have been determined by the educational system to "have nowhere else to go" or who might just "fall through the cracks" in the system.
I think it is an honor, as a parent and a professional, to work with your child, to find the ways in which he or she learns. I believe that a student's learning style is self-created. The teacher's or tutor's job really is to let that style grow and evolve at its own pace, and the tutor or teacher simply helps the student to learn more efficiently, so that the student may become a lifelong learner!
I look forward to meeting you and working with you, or your child and family. Thank you for your consideration.
