My M.S. is in secondary science education with a focus in chemistry education & technology, also from Youngstown State University. I am converting my master's to biology. My doctoral studies are from the University of Akron in Curriculum and Instruction with a major in secondary science education. My teaching experiences include 8 years with 7th/8th grade science for the Salem Board of Education from 1992-2000. While I worked on my master's degree, I taught at Youngstown State University in the Arts & Science department in the chemistry, biology, & physics lab based courses, I also taught in teacher education as an adjunct instructor & supervised the secondary science education students. I taught at Cardinal Mooney High School- Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, and Bio 2 from 2006-2012. In the spring of 2008, I taught an Advanced Science Methods course through a grant cohort at the University of Akron. I taught at University of Akron Wayne Campus in the spring of 2011 as an adjunct instructor for Intro. Bio Chemistry.
I was a Field Study research assistant for YSU & Hiram University & Penn State University in the summer of 2012. I created curriculum for the Cuyahoga Valley National Park on Biodiversity and presented at NSTA in 2008. My consulting projects include special projects from the mechanical engineering lab at the University of Akron. The projects that I have worked on include the agricultural hydroponic sensor and app and the Infrasound project. I presented a published paper on 2-4 year colleges and the job market at the ICETI 2011 conference in Orlando, Florida. I also presented a paper to the IREPS 2012 conference on how teachers and students learn science. I presented 2 other papers on e at the CCISE 2013 and one at the ICETI 2013 conferences. I have 2 more papers that have been submitted for publication.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students.
