Education is the life blood of society and its well being, and I have been privileged to assist younger generations in this pursuit. It will be my pleasure to meet you, and I am confident that my tutoring will assist you in the realization of your goals and dreams.
Many of the rules and customs of proper English use and application can be tricky, with very small differences between correct and incorrect usage. A student's best preparation often rests on attention to detail, and that is what I look forward to giving to those in need.
American history has long fascinated me, and it was always a favorite while attending Elementary and Secondary school. It contains unending twists and turns, so that neither tutor nor student can ever be certain where a selected road may lead.
A sound grasp of social trends and forces is always the better and more interesting approach than the rote memorization of dates.
I have played, coached, managed and watched baseball for over 50 years. I am thorougly familiar with its history, its rules, and how to teach the game for its maximum pleasure and enjoyment. I consider baseball the one --- and only --- subject on Earth about which I know everything that is important to know.
University degrees in Finance and Investments were acompanied by courses in Economic theory and practice. I am familiar with the workings of U.S. and global economies, and both domestic and internaitonal banking systems.
The foundations of all knowledge --- the old and familiar 3R's of Reading, Writing and Arithmetic --- remain topics of interest to me, along with American History and Government. Blending this with patience and understanding, I believe I can make a positive difference in the life of an Elementary School age youngster who may be having difficulty in these and related subjects.
I believe the most needed ingredient in offering youngsters useful instruction in Math is patience. Most children in today's world can come to terms with the subject matter unless the adult supervisor seems nervous and impatient in their company.
It has long been my belief that acquiring skills and fluency in the English language is especially difficult and challenging to those beginning to study it in their adult years. A combination of patience and good sense will be needed to meet your objectives and my life long love affair with English will greatly assist you.
I have been graduated with both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Finance and Investments. I have worked in the financial service Industry in various capacities for over 30 yers. I have taught courses in a range of Finance and Banking subjects at two Universities in Greater Cleveland.
The GED proposes questions on a variety of subjects and topics, the successful completion of which calls for a blend of common sense, elementary Mathematics and English Grammar. Even as it was fun for me to become qualified as a GED Tutor at WyzAnt so it will be enjoyable for me to assist students toward successful completion of GED requirements.
Working with shapes, angles, designs and related measurements has long been an enjoyable pursuit. My favorite game in all the world is baseball, whose field dimensions pose interesting geometric challenges. Geometry can always be relied upon for offering us practical applications.
Both the beauty and wonder of Literature are woven into its remarkable diversity. Virtually any mood and writing style can be found within the World's accumulated body of Literature. It holds the power to uplift, to amuse, to inform, and to comfort. It will always and anywhere be my pleasure to share it with a willing student as a WyzAnt tutor.
Proper enunciation and pronunciation of the English language is a skill that will prove hugely rewarding to students who work at it. My respect for English leads me to distinguish between "Long A" and "Short A" --- between "Long E" and "Short E" --- between "Hard C or G" and "Soft C or G" --- and on through the many subtleties and nuances our spoken language entails. I even remember from years ago the meaning of the "murmur dipthong". More recently a participation in Toastmasters has underscored the importance of phonics in the advancement of everyday life. I look forward to imparting these skills to WyzAnt students.
Respectfully, Roger I. M., Tutor
A High School teacher once mentioned to a group of us that the two most important subjects in school are: reading and speach. With mastery of the former many things can be learned. Without it very few can. With mastery of the latter we can easily communicate are acquired knowledge to those who matter. Without it we usually cannot. So I respect the discipline of reading and look forward to assisting those in need.
My experience includes guiding high school students in the best preparation for the Scholastic Aptitude Test. My regular full time job entails periodic non-fiction writing, which I thoroughly enjoy and for which I have been roundly complimented.
