Qualifications and Subjects Offered: Hello! My name is Bethany, and I am a Teaching English as a Second Language certified professional tutor. I have experience tutoring English, Sociology, Psychology, developmental math, and study skills. I also have proofreading experience. Additionally, I have six years of experience working and volunteering with individuals with disabilities (autism, ADD/ADHD, blindness, deafness, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, MRDD, etc.). I also have experience tutoring English as a Second language/ English as a Foreign Language and helping international students with college level English classes. I speak intermediate level Spanish, beginning Arabic, and beginning English word order sign language, and I read grade 1 braille. I offer adult lessons over the phone, on the internet, or in person, and I offer children’s lessons in person.
Philosophy and Approach: I believe that everyone can learn, but everyone learns differently. Therefore, I work with students to find study methods and learning styles that fit each student. I help students deal with issues like testing anxiety so that they can be confident. I also help students learn how to organize their studies and their time. Additionally, I help children take responsibility for their studies and feel good about it.
I truly care about the success of my students, and I work hard to help them succeed. I involve parents in their children’s learning by providing written feedback after every lesson. I also listen to the parents’ concerns about their children’s learning; parents know their children best. Finally, I give adult students as much control as they want over the learning process, and I give children as much control as they can handle. Students can tell me in which areas they need help, and I will tailor lessons to meet their needs. Students can decide for themselves what study methods they like. I will provide detailed feedback after every lesson to help students in this process.

I look forward to working with you! :)
