I currently teach Accounting Principles, Managerial Accounting, Cost Accounting, and Internal Auditing at the undergraduate and graduate level at a State University. I enjoy working one on one with students so I can observe the learning process and help it along. I have very significant accounting and financial business experience working in industry which I bring to students to explain the real world meaning of the concepts.
I believe that students tend to learn using different learning modes, and at different paces. Some of us are audio-visual learners, some can pick up the concepts by careful reading, some need to recognize patterns, and some learn primarily by repeated encounters with a subject matter. Students will tend to excel when they can make a connection with the material in their preferred learning mode. Part of that experience will be outside of the classroom environment.
I want my students to succeed in this course and life and their careers. But I realize I can only do so much, they have to make the effort to acquire the knowledge, skills and understanding, by their own efforts.
