I specialize in tutoring students in science and math from K-12. I have raised four children of my own (three boys and one girl) and have always enjoyed helping them in their studies. I also have conducted teen Bible studies at the church I attended.
When I tutor a student I concentrate in the areas of the subject that the student has the most difficulty and sometimes it is necessary to start with the fundamentals and go forward from that point, whereas in other situations the fundamentals are understood, but applying them seems to be the biggest difficulty. Each student is different in their level of his or her learning ability. I adapt the tutoring session in such a way that can help the student the most.
I provide a hands-on method that may involve some homework and quizzes to determine the student's increased ability to understand the subject matter at hand. Input from the parents is encouraged beforehand to assist in addressing the areas of the subject matter that the student needs the most help. It is my intention to make a difference in the student's ability to understand the subject matter and to give the student a positive attitude of learning the subject matter. Math and science sometimes seems rather dry in the classroom, but if applied to our every day lives it can be more meaningful and actually fun.
