I have over ten years teaching experience privately in my personal studio, and as a faculty member of a group studio. I have a BS in Education from the University of Tennessee, taught in the Memphis City School system, BM from the University of Memphis, and MS from Full Sail University in Entertainment. I am a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers with students that have performed for guild. I was also a piano guild student growing up. Music Teachers National Association, Ohio Music Education Association, American Federation of Musicians member, NARAS member. I have had students from ages 3 to 70 using traditional methods and modified Suzuki materials that incorporate music notation reading. I enjoy helping students learn the fun in music, each student has different goals for what they are seeking to achieve in music and I can assist the student to those goals. I currently am a professional practicing musician and am familiar with the National Standards for Music Education.

Music Theory

I specialize in theory from basic building blocks of music to more detailed jazz analysis. Books and materials that are industry standard will be used.

Composition (Music)

Music composition from improvisation to form and analysis. We will use guided composition materials and a historical perspective. I am a member of ASCAP, NARAS professionally write and record music with the latest CD making the first round of NARAS picks. I have a proven record for popular and jazz composition for various types of ensembles. I have written for small jazz combo, to large big band to rock groups.

Guitar

Guitar acoustic, electric, classical. Materials and repertoire books that are industry standard for the instrument. Music notation, lead sheets, and jazz repertoire and other styles will be covered. Piano

Piano materials in various methods, a method book, repertoire, technique, and "fun" book will be used. Piano guild can be available for those students who want to work towards that goal as well as other competitions. Flute

Flute students from beginner to advanced, also piccolo. Tone, fingering, flute methods, and standard repertoire for the instrument. I am a member of MTNA, OMEA. I studied with symphony professionals and played in concert band, marching band, flute choir, solo and ensemble contests through college. I use the Rubank method books as well as other supplemental materials.

Songwriting
