Greetings! I have a doctorate in Electrical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, and teaching experience at the college level. As a graduate student, I also worked as a math and science tutor for middle-school students. I find working with individuals or small groups of students of any age to be very rewarding. There is nothing like seeing a student realize that they do have what it takes to master a difficult subject!
As an engineer, my background is heavily weighted towards algebra, calculus, trigonometry, statistics, and physics. If you are a college student, I'm also very comfortable with linear algebra and differential equations, along with other topics engineers typically encounter. I have extensive experience programming Matlab.
My approach to tutoring is to first establish the student's current level of knowledge and experience with the subject, then carefully build on that base of knowledge by working through example problems. I also find that it works well to have the student "teach" problems to me. In my experience, the process of verbally describing a problem does a lot to help one learn it.
I am looking forward to working with you!
