My name is Ali and I have had a love for math ever since I was a kid growing up with my mom who graduated with a college degree in mathematics. My interest in math expanded when I was offered a job to be a supplemental instruction leader at Ohio University for College Algebra for my sophomore year of my undergraduate career. Supplemental instruction is a tutoring service that Ohio University offers free to students. I have this job while I am away at school. I hold three one-hour study sessions per week which follow the flow of the College Algebra's curriculum. I also offer peer tutoring on the side to help out some of my students. I tutor on the side during the whole semester, and especially during finals week.

I always feel it is important to have my students gain their confidence in math before they can succeed. I have found through my past experience that a lot of people think they are horrible at math and become so daunted by it that they simply give up. I walk my students through problems and guide them to find the answer on their own. This way they will remember how to do it in the future. I find that it isn't helpful to tell someone how to do a problem without them trying to figure it out on their own. I am always more than willing to answer any questions my students have so that they feel comfortable working out the problems alone.

I specialize in Algebra, but am more than willing to help prepare students for the ACT, SAT, OGT, GED, and college courses.

I have a 24-hour cancellation policy for all of my tutoring sessions. I have a very flexible schedule and would be happy to schedule a make up. My favorite places to hold tutoring sessions are at the library so that we are in a relaxing environment.

I look forward to hearing from you!
