I am a patient, easy going, creative person and I'm open to all kinds of learning styles.
I've not only established long-term relationships with students after tutoring for three years at my university's writing center, I've also taken university courses on tutoring and tutored Iraqi refugees... and I've loved it all.
As a university writing adviser for three years I've worked with a range of students anywhere from those who can't form whole sentences to top notch academics. I enjoy all elements of tutoring writing: the basics of following assignment directions, refining theses, developing confidence, adjusting paragraph order... you get the gist.
I studied Arabic (in university) and Spanish (in high school). I also visited Palestine and Mexico. As a student and visitor I understand the importance and pressure of language. I tutored Iraqi refugees in English and culture through World Relief last spring—I loved the whole process! I also edited work for a graduate student from east Asia.
For my degree in Conflict Transformation I studied Arabic for 5 semesters and traveled abroad several times... so I know all about the process of learning this beautiful language! I have been mistaken as Lebanese because my accent is quite good and I am proficient at writing the script.
