Coming from Singapore, I am bilingual in English and Chinese. I graduated from JCU with a double major in English and East Asian Studies. I worked at JCU's Writing Center and was a Teaching Assistant for a couple of Chinese language classes. In spring 2012, I was awarded the Francis Smith Senior Essay Award from the English department for my senior honors project, as well as a certificate for Outstanding Achievement in Intermediate Japanese.
I have completed translation projects between English and Chinese in both academic and professional settings. Last year, I scored 162/170 on the revised GRE verbal reasoning portion, placing me in the 90th percentile.
I am good at explaining difficult concepts and will work at the student's pace and needs. Ultimately, it is important to me that students maximize their potential, gain an appreciation for what they are learning and are able to apply that knowledge both in class and beyond.
