I have been an educator for twelve years. I have a Master's Degree in Educational Evaluation and Measurement and a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Social Studies Education. Both degrees were earned through Kent State University. I am currently in my sixth year in the Orange City School district as teacher at New Directions, a residential chemical dependency treatment facility for adolescents. In this capacity, I am able to work with students between the ages of 13 and 18 from all over Northeastern Ohio. Because of the unique educational needs of these students, I help teach and tutor them in all of their academic subjects. While my area of expertise is social studies, my experience at New Directions has enhanced my ability to tutor students in multiple subjects. Prior to coming to Orange, I worked for two years as a social studies teacher at Kent Roosevelt. There I was able to hone my craft as a social studies teacher.
Prior to that I worked for two years in the Nordonia Hills City School District as a long-term substitute. This included teaching 8th grade science for a year and teaching multiple subjects as a building substitute for a year. Again, this and my remaining experience as a day-to-day substitute teacher has helped me teach multiple subjects beyond social studies. In my time as an educator, I have worked with students from every grade level, learning level, and socio-economic background. I am very down to Earth, patient, and easy to work with. I hope to work with your strengths so we can overcome any academic shortcomings you may have. Every student can learn and everyone has potential to do great things. I hope to tap into your potential so that you can start on your way to doing those great things.
