My wife and I have four children and nine grandchildren. Unfortunately, none live nearby, and I have been deprived of the chance to influence their education. Lately, I have been substituting in grades pre K through 12. Substitute teaching helps me scratch my itch to help young people learn, but substitutes don't get a chance to actually teach that much.
My background includes athletics (HS and College Football, College and Club Lacrosse, and Rugby for 15 years after that), academic (a four year Regional Scholarship to Oberlin College), music (I've been singing in public since I was six.) and theatre. (I've been in 7 community groups in 4 states.) My wife and I started our own multi-line insurance agency and ran it for about ten years. I have taught students, grades 7 through graduate school, full time. I taught broadcasting for eleven years and performing arts for nine years.
I have always enjoyed any work I have done and try to point this out to my students. I try to make them know that if they pick a vocation or profession that they love, the lifelong learning it will require can be lifelong fun. It is often said that if you chose to make your living doing what you love to do you will never "work" a day in your life.
If you choose me as a tutor, I promise to not only help you to overcome any problems you may have with the subject, but to also help you share my love of learning.
