ADD/ADHD
Hyper-activity and a failure to concentrate are symptoms that prevent learning in school.
Children become labeled as disruptive, and teachers become frustrated in the classroom. As a teacher, I have worked with many diagnosed and undiagnosed ADD/ADHD children, including my own child.
I have great patience and have brought forth positive results in lives of students who needed help.
Bible Studies
As a member of a non-denominational church for twenty years, I've learned how to rightly divide the word of truth. I do not say this with a prideful heart. The Lord has given me knowledge and wisdom to share through the teachings of a real apostle.
I have instructed people in my home for twelve years. I attend weekly continuing education at a bible teaching website. I do not seek a theological degree.
Business
Currently, I own and manage two rental homes in a lovely residential area in Cincinnati, Ohio. Previously, I worked in sales for two radio stations and for the "South Florida Business Journal." I have also been an adjunct professor.
Cooking
I love food and cooking! I have weighed the same for fifty years! 110 pounds! That's because I know how to eat, when to eat and what to eat. I can teach any recipe and practical aspects of food preparation and cooking to children and adults.
Elementary (K-6th)
As a tutor and substitute teacher I have twenty-plus years of experience in two states! Locally, I have substituted at Cincinnati Public Schools, Armleder Academy, Cincinnati Country Day School, Indian Hill Schools, and Madeira Schools. K-6th is my favorite age group(in a class )because they are generally obedient and their behavior is manageable.
I relate well to children of this age, and have tutored many individuals.
Public Speaking
Public Speaking: We write, edit and video you for youtube.com or any public forum!
It's fun and rewarding!
I have coached many children, teachers, and adults in sales and marketing to speak effectively. I have also taught public speaking as an Adjunct Professor at schools and colleges in South Florida, such as Broward Community College and Lynn University.
Reading
Let's make reading fun for you! So much depends upon comprehension. As a television-radio, language arts teacher, I have developed skills that will benefit you. Whether it's a simple story or a detailed subject composition, you will learn to comprehend what you read! We will enjoy our lessons, and you will look forward to learning with me!
Special Needs
Compassion and patience are the most important characteristics of anyone working with special needs students. As a substitute teacher for twenty years (1982-2003), I was placed in many classrooms for the handicapped. Bright Horizons is one of those special schools I was privileged to gain experience in. Sycamore High School was another. Indian Hill Middle School offered integrated classrooms for special needs students. I learned to look beyond the physical and focus on the spirit of a person, meeting that individual where he or she is.
Tennis
Tennis is my sport of choice since the 1980's. I have been instructed by several professionals. I can instruct quite well.
Theatre
Acting has been a part of my life since my teen years. At the University of Cincinnati I performed in several plays in the 1960's. I studied Theater, Voice, Broadcasting and Dance.
In 1964 I placed second in the Miss Cincinnati Contest. As an Adjunct Professor, I have taught Drama at Lynne University in Boca Raton, Florida. Also, I produced and directed a home-school play that was presented at a church.
Writing
If you want to have creative fun while learning, I'm the teacher for you! Writing compositions of all types is a skill that must be developed. Not only do I teach writing, but I actively pursue personal writing goals, such as script-writing of plays, television writing, social media writing and magazine writing. You will look forward to each session with me!
