I am a business, accounting, and audit professional with 12+ years experience in various industries such as manufacturing, retail, utility, and government/not-for-profit. I hold a BSBA with an accounting concentration as well as an MBA with an accounting concentration.
While obtaining my undergraduate degree, I tutored students in business, accounting, and economics classes. During my tenure, I obtained Master Tutor status, which means I was the preferred/recommended tutor for each of the classes I tutored. I was consistently recommended/requested by professors and tutored classes while I was taking them. (Customarily one was only able to tutor after completing a course with a B or higher grade; my teachers approved me to tutor courses while I was taking them due to my strong grasp of the subject matter.)
First as a tutor and then later as an auditor, I developed the ability to explain a subject or topic in various manners to best suit the student/learner. Simply talking about a subject/topic does not induce learning. Being able to explain the subject matter in a way or context that makes sense to the student is imperative for learning to take place. I strive to relate the subject/topic to the person's experiences, hobbies, likes, etc. in order to help them understand subject matter and to be able to apply their knowledge to different situations/classes.
I am the "go-to" person at work for computer and software (most commonly Microsoft Office and our ERP software) questions and assistance. I am responsible for updating the generic instructions for our ERP software to be company specific and user friendly. Additionally, as a volunteer for several organizations I have developed tutorials to help people who are not computer savvy to access and use the organizations websites.
I enjoy helping others to learn as well as continuously learning myself. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you (and your student) in the future.
