I am finishing up my Masters of Education degree from Kent State University. I have tutored students from K-12, Undergraduate Freshman and Sophomores, and students with IEP's and 504's that need additional help within the classroom. One of my tutoring methods for the K-12 is to begin by assessing the students learning style. I will work with the student on current homework which is a secondary assessment tool to establish in what areas there may be the greatest need. For students who are needing tutoring at the college level I use my knowledge of reading strategies, test taking strategies, stress reduction, diagrams and outlining to work with the student on the subject or subjects in question. I am skilled at running groups and am flexible with families needing multiple services for similar age students to accommodate the parents.
I have a Bachelors degree in Psychology and have presented research as National Conferences on different types of learning styles and cognitive functioning. While earning my Bachelor's degree I was very active in science based classes which gives me the expertise in anatomy, physiology, Biology, and Anthropology.
My preferred meeting areas are in public settings such as libraries, colleges and community centers for the resources available (group rooms, internet, reading materials, special books, etc.).
The schedule of availability is open to accommodate many types of needs.
