I'm certified as an ESL (English As a Second Language) instructor through Bridge-Linguatec in Denver, Colorado. From 2001-2007 I lived in Malaysia, where I taught English to Secondary and post-Secondary school students, developed a curriculum and a program syllabus, and led field trips and English camps. While in Malaysia, I also became fluent in the Malay language, and helped facilitate village home-stays for foreigners.
From 2008-2010 I served as an ESL tutor among Somalis living in Minneapolis. In 2012 I tutored international students from the Congo in the fundamentals of the English language, and also assisted them with writing and proofreading research papers. I've been tutoring with Wyzant since April 2013.
I enjoy writing, sports, traveling, and international food and culture. My wife and I currently live in Bowling Green, Ohio. We are both originally from Canton, Ohio.
I graduated from a 3-year Bible College, Christ for the Nations Institute, with straight A's. I have co-led a weekly Bible study since early 2008. I maintain an online blog with an increasing number of Bible studies, and teachings on various subjects related to the Bible. Studying the Bible has been a personal passion of mine for years, and I enjoy sharing the knowledge I have gained with others.
I am certified as an ESL tutor through Bridge-Linguatec in Denver, Colorado. From 2003-2007 I worked as an ESL teacher at The Language Studio in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and in Terengganu, Malaysia at Pusat Bahasa Terengganu (Terengganu Language Center). While there, I helped to develop curriculum and two syllabuses, which I still use today. From 2008-2010 I volunteered as an ESL tutor among Somali refugees in Minneapolis. In 2012 I tutored two Congolese refugees in St. Paul, Minnesota.
I played softball on a team for five years, and have played recreational softball and baseball even longer. I'm very familiar with the rules of softball, and am able to play any position (outfield, infield, catcher, and pitcher). At various points in time, I have casually taught the fundamentals of this sport to people younger than me, or to those who were newer to the game. I regularly watch Major League Baseball (MLB), and keep up very well with team and individual statistics in MLB.
